local pick-up for computers is preferred but I have shipped a few vintage iMacs, eMacs and towers and try to keep a few original boxes with factory packing on hand. In Sept. a mint Flower Power was sent to Virginia with no problems, however shipping was over $100 for even the cheapest method.
mailing is available for shirts, mugs and other high tech memorabilia worldwide at cost. generally it has become more expensive to mail items other than t-shirts and posters. I have mailed mugs and shirts and posters all over for years and all have arrived intact. nice. canada post rocks.
kootenaymac’s posting schedule works like this; a good second-hand mac computer is featured on mondays, tuesday is usually a new item – mostly shirts, wednesday and thursday are Apple items; a t-shirt or poster or other mac memorabilia and friday is a non-apple high tech collectible. saturday might be a long sleeve shirt, jacket or hardware – it varies. sunday I try to find an interesting desktop wallpaper. most days get a hyperlink to a computer article that I find on the web that might be helpful, interesting, timely or vintage.
a few laptops are also available – G3 and G4 iBooks and Powerbooks. all other inquiries regarding purchasing new apple computers and warranty work and repairs are referred to Digerati Computing in the old brewery building about a block away. Mike is our local Apple authorized re-seller and certified technician and nelsonmac.ca is his new website.
I will also try to restore, reuse or recycle your old apple computers. click here for my wanted dead or alive post.

this is the current kootenaymac computer ad for tacking up on local bulletin boards. there is one at the kootenay coop, the nelson library and up at the selkirk rosemont campus. you have a choice of a full page single ad, or half page double ads that need a bit of scissoring. shopping local and buying second hand macs are good things and a little help promoting kootenaymac is much needed and appreciated.
Welcome to kootenaymac.wordpress.com
This is my first post at wordpress after 10 years of using adobe golive for websites and blogger for weblogs even before google adopted it. wordpress already feels like a comfortable chair by the fire with an old friend. it is nice to see the xml feed and some recent tweets at twitter on the sidebar. next task is to upload a post picture. off we go on a new adventure.
